App Startup Gives Teslas to Employees as a Bonus

It pays to be a good employee at WiFi Master Key.

The Chinese start-up appreciates its workers so much that it is giving dozens of them a free Tesla Model S as a bonus for their hard work and loyalty, according to Chinese tech blog Tech Node.

So what's the catch you ask? Meet your job requirements and be an employee for at least four months.

That's it.

A company representative told the blog that out of 50 current employees dozens will receive the bonus. The daring move will cost WiFi Master Key RMB30 million (US $4.8 million) in total this year, but they feel it is worth the cost.

Tech Node confirmed that at least eight employees have already received cars.

The start-up company is backed by Chinese game developer and publisher Shanda.

"Talent is the key determinant for the success of high-tech companies. Through this move, we want to show how much we value and respect our talent," said Chen Danian, the startup's founder and twin brother of Shanda CEO Chen Tianqiao, according to Tech Node.

WiFi Master Key is an app that connects cellphones to any Wi-Fi signal accessible in a given area.The app has been downloaded by nearly 500 million users as of September and has 230 million monthly active users.

The app claims to provide free access to 120 million different WiFi hotspots across China.
