The refreshed 2016 Toyota Avalon midsize sedan made its debut today at the Chicago Auto Show along with special editions of the Camry and Corolla.

What is it?

The fourth-generation Avalon launched in 2012. When equipped with a V-6 engine, it comes in five versions: XLE, XLE Plus, XLE Premium, Limited and Touring. Hybrid versions have three trim levels, XLE Plus, XLE Premium and Limited.

What's new?

The refreshed Avalon has a newly styled grille with a wider lower front and sports a new chrome accent for the rear bumper. The light gray interior has new gray accent stitching.

The 2016 model has two newly engineered suspension systems, one of which "prioritizes a comfortable ride for the XLE through Limited grades" and one that "provides a more dynamic and responsive driving experience for the Touring grade," according to the automaker.

In the XLE and XLE Plus trims, the Avalon features new 17-inch alloy wheels, a 7-inch screen for infotainment functions and a tire pressure monitoring system.

For the top-of-the-line Limited version, the sedan has available safety systems that include automatic high-beam headlights, advanced cruise control, collision warning and lane departure alert.

Can I buy it?

The 2016 Toyota Avalon, the Camry Special Edition and the Corolla Special Edition are expected in the fall.
