Nissan may not be the automaker you think of first when it comes to trucks, but that hasn't stopped the company from releasing the first of its multi-chapter "Truckumentary."

The automaker is publishing a multi-chapter Titan "Truckumentary" in order to mark the bold, ground-up redesign of its next full-size pickup.

The series is being introduced by Fred Diaz, senior vice president, Nissan Sales & Marketing and Operations U.S., Nissan North America. The first episode features a walkthrough of Nissan's truck past, which goes back half a century, hosted by Brent Hagan of Nissan product planning.

The episode begins with the 37hp 1960 Datsun 1200, the first truck ever sold in the United States by the Japanese automaker, which would later be renamed Nissan. In 1967, the Nissan Patrol became a popular off-road option with the largest engine offered in the segment, outperforming Jeep in all areas.

"I learned to drive a truck when I could barely reach the pedals and will always keep one in my driveway. My lifestyle dictates the need for a truck and so my wife and I like to joke that if we ever bottom out financially, we'll sell the house before our pickup," said Brent Hagan in the video.

He looked at the Gobi, a futuristic design of the tuck and the SUT Concept. Both of these vehicles were forward-looking design concepts from the 80s.

Hagan visited the Lane Motor Museum in Nashville, Tennessee for the first chapter of the "Truckumentary."

The new Titan was designed in California, engineered in Michigan, tested in Arizona and will be assembled in Mississippi, according to the automaker.

Nissan said the vehicle will be powered by engines from Indiana and Tennessee.

Interested customers can expect the Titan to be unveiled next month during the 2015 North American International Auto Show on January 12th.
