Does Hyundai have a surprise for the upcoming North American International Auto Show?

We hear that the South Korean automaker plans to present a pickup truck of its own next month in Detroit—and not the one shown above, called H100 or Porter, which is sold in some export markets. Hyundai does not currently sell a pickup truck in the United States, so it's a safe bet that we're curious about potential platform and chassis architecture, and its anticipated size.

This year's auto show is turning into a debutante ball for pickup trucks from a cadre of overseas automakers, including the 2016 Nissan Titan and Toyota Tacoma. The midsize pickup truck segment was arguably and recently revitalized by the 2015 Chevrolet Colorado and GMC Canyon, and the lighter 2015 Ford F-150 seems to have done the trick for full-sizers. We can expect more entries in the segment even as gas prices seem to plummet.

Stay with us for more details about the potential product offering ahead of next month's auto show.
