Land Rover's new Discovery Sport SUV will have its North American debut at the 2014 Los Angeles Auto Show later on tonight.

What is it?

The Discover Sport is a versatile premium compact SUV, set to become the first member of the "new" Discovery' vehicle family. Land Rover unveiled the vehicle in Paris and will have its U.S. debut at the LA Auto Show today.

Interested customers can expect the new model to reach dealerships sometime in 2015.

Discovery Sport will join the company's portfolio of crossovers and SUVs in the US, which include vehicles like Land Rover LR4, Range Rover, Range Rover Evoque and Range Rover Sport.

What's new?

The Discovery Sport offers drivers a dynamic design with a compact footprint allowing for seven-passenger seating in a "5+2″ configuration, according to the automaker.

New Land Rover innovations that will be found in the Discovery Sport includes a new touchscreen infotainment system and available Autonomous Emergency Braking.

What's changed?

The vehicle will deliver a refined combination of efficiency, safety and performance thanks to a body shell of high-strength steel and lightweight aluminum, a 240hp turbocharged 2.0-liter engine, nine-speed automatic transmission and standard all-wheel drive.

Prices before tax and destination fee are expected to start from $37,995.

The auto show will open to the public on Friday, November 21.

The British firm will also open an all-terrain vehicle demonstration course in West Hollywood, from November 19-23. The course will allow visitors to get an idea what the premium model is like before it goes on sale.
