The revamped 2016 Audi A6 and A7 will debut for the U.S. at the 2014 Los Angeles Auto Show, offering a more athletic design and engine updates.

Both model lines have brushed-up front and rear designs, featuring a new front fascia with LED headlights, according to Audi.

When it comes to the engine, the A6 will still be available with 2-liter and 3-liter turbocharged engines and TDI clean diesel engines along with the high-performance S6 variant. For the update, the 2016 A6 will additionally be offered with the option of a new 2-liter four-cylinder engine producing 252 horsepower and 273 pound-feet of torque.

The powerful new engine option is available with front-wheel drive with a seven-speed dual clutch transmission.

The 3-liter version has been enhanced to produce 333 horsepower, increasing by 23 horsepower compared with the previous version. Generating 325 pound-feet of torque, the 3-liter turbocharged engine comes with a Tiptronic transmission.

A7 models now have LED headlights as standard to reduce energy use and provide better lighting.

Audi has also added technology systems that are small steps on the road to autonomous driving. Side assist and lane assist systems take over steering if the car is in danger of colliding with another vehicle in the driver's blind spot, while the collision assist option automatically puts on the brakes to guard against secondary collisions.

The infotainment system has renewed connectivity, featuring an 8-inch monitor, 4G LTE connection, a Wi-Fi hotspot for up to eight devices and Bluetooth integration.

For the cabin colors, the A6 and A7 are available with new design selections, including Flint Gray and Cedar Brown.

"The 2016 A6 and A7 model lines will continue to drive our momentum in the upper-premium market by elevating the standard for vehicle technology," Scott Keogh, president of Audi of America, said in a statement. "These cars represent the perfect balance of beautiful design, efficiency and performance."
