Famous Primanti Bros. Sandwich Will Ship to Your Door for $109

The Primanti Bros. sandwich, a Pittsburgh icon, is now available nationwide--as long as you're willing to shell out $109 and assemble the famed treat yourself.

Part of a partnership with a gourmet delivery company, each Primanti Bros. sandwich pack will comprise a loaf of Italian bread, provolone cheese, French fries, coleslaw, hot sauce, tomatoes and a choice of Pastrami or Capricola, according to the Christian Science Monitor. As part of the $109 package, sandwich fans will also score a Primanti Bros. T-shirt.

The restaurant chain isn't just aiming for foodies: Pittsburgh sports fans are expected to keep the Primanti Bros. delivery service in demand.

"It's significant to every Steeler tailgate party that happens outside of [Pittsburgh]," Primanti Bros. spokeswoman Lilia Prezioso told the Monitor, alluding to Pittsburgh's football team. "Steeler nation resides everywhere."

While the sandwich will ship anywhere in the U.S., getting a Primanti Bros. fix delivered straight to your door comes with a couple of caveats.

The sandwich pack will be made in limited batches, which will be shipped out for delivery on Wednesdays and Fridays of each week through the end of November, according to CBS Pittsburgh.

The Italian bread and Pastrami also doesn't come pre-assembled in a sandwich; instead, Primanti Bros. is essentially sending you the do-it-yourself version, complete with ingredients and a detailed instruction card to tell you how to layer the sandwich properly.

The sandwiches will be symbols of Pittsburgh shipped around the country, according to Mayor William Peduto.

"Primanti's sandwiches--designed originally for busy truck drivers--have always exemplified a city on-the-go. This is a natural next step," he said in an email quoted by the Monitor.
