Samsung and Barnes & Noble are introducing a brand new larger-screen Galaxy Tab 4 Nook tablet just two months after the first option was announced.

The two companies said back in June that it would team up on the devices and the first co-branded 7-inch Galaxy Tab 4 Nook debuted back in August for $179.

"With the launch of the new large screen Samsung Galaxy Tab 4 NOOK, we have a fantastic lineup of devices for our customers to choose from as we head into the holiday gifting season," said Michael P. Huseby, Chief Executive Officer of Barnes & Noble, Inc., in a statement. "Customers are telling us that they love the reading and entertainment experience on our new 7-inch Samsung NOOK and we're certain that the addition of the stunning 10-inch model, alongside our popular NOOK GlowLight eReader, will ensure that there's a perfect device for everyone in the family at Barnes & Noble this holiday season and beyond."

The company is now offering the tablet with a 10.1-inch diagonal screen ahead of the important holiday season for $299.99, according to the Associated Press. Barnes and Noble has not said how long the $300 price will be offered.

It has 16GB of built-in storage with a microSD card slot so users can store their books, movies and other content.

"The Samsung Galaxy Tab 4 NOOK combines an award-winning reading experience with leading edge technology to offer consumers an immersive way to enjoy all types of content," said Tim Baxter, President of Samsung Electronics America, in a statement. "We are excited to offer both the 7- and 10.1-inch NOOKs by Samsung to customers through Barnes & Noble's bookstores nationwide, just in time for the holidays."

The tablet is powered by a Snapdragon chipset (quad-core Cortex-A7) running Android 4.4 KitKat with a custom Barnes & Noble launcher, according to Samsung.

The tablets will compete in a crowded field that includes devices like Amazon's Kindle Fire and Apple's iPad, both available in multiple sizes.

The Nook comes with both Google's Play store and the Nook app store for Android apps. The new Nook will come with more than $200 in free content from the Nook store.

Content includes four bestselling e-books and an episode of "The Newsroom," "Curb Your Enthusiasm," and "The Octonauts." Consumers will also have the chance to choose up to four 14-day free trial subscriptions from a selection of 15 magazines.

The Galaxy Tab 4 Nook 10.1 also packs a 3MP main camera, 1.3MP front-facing camera, GPS with GLONASS for positioning.

Both versions of the Nook are not available at Barnes & Noble stores and Nook.com.
