The new Chevrolet Volt plug-in hybrid won't have increased pricing for the 2015 model year, starting at $34,995 with shipping.

Pricing for the 2015 Chevy Volt, which is available at dealerships now, doesn't reflect federal or state tax incentives, Edmunds.com noted.

The plug-in has a 380-mile battery range and received a $5,000 price cut last year to improve sales as it competes with models such as the Ford C-Max Energi, Honda Fit EV, Nissan Leaf and Toyota Prius Plug-in Hybrid.

General Motors said the 2015 Volt's battery cell has "an overall storage capacity increase from 16.5 to 17.1 kWh" after an engineering change, Edmunds reported.

"Customers may see a slight EV range improvement with the new battery, but the EPA-estimated range remains unchanged," the automaker said in a statement.

The 2015 version of the four-door hatchback has some minor updates that include a new available exterior paint, Iridescent Pearl Tricoat, as well as technology upgrades. The new plug-in features OnStar with 4G LTE and a wi-fi hotspot as standard. The built-in hotspot comes with a three-month trial for 3GB of data.
