Though the vehicle hasn't been introduced yet, the 2016 Jaguar XE compact premium sport sedan could be the most fuel-efficient Jaguar ever, according to a technology preview of the vehicle.

Jaguar will unveil the new vehicle in London on September 8, according to the automaker.

The XE is expected to appear at the 2014 Paris Auto Show as well.

EPA fuel economy estimates have not been released yet for the XE.

The average price for a gallon of unleaded gasoline is $3.51, compared to the 2013 price $3.63 from a year ago, according to an AAA Daily Fuel Gauge Report.

Jaguar said a new aluminum alloy, called RC5754, was created for the XE.

The XE uses a high percentage of recycled aluminum to reduce energy consumption.

The vehicle's aluminum construction will make the vehicle "lighter and stronger than the competition," Jaguar Land Rover said in a statement.

"Lightweight aluminum accounts for 75 percent of the structure," the automaker said in a statement. "The weight reduction realized ensures that the XE is the most fuel-efficient Jaguar yet."

The aluminum technology is inspired by the aerospace industry, according to the automaker.

Jaguar has slowly been releasing more information about the XE, including teasers that offer glimpses of the vehicle.

"The series highlights the technical, design and engineering features in the XE and features information on chassis technologies, its advanced aluminum architecture, unique driver aids and new Ingenium engine range," the automaker said.

Two more technology previews will be coming before the vehicle's official debut in August.

The Jaguar XE will compete for sales against the Audi A4, BMW 3 Series and Mercedes-Benz C-Class, among other vehicles.

Expect the XE to reach U.S. dealerships sometime in 2016.
