Samsung Ships Galaxy S5s With Non-Working Cameras

Samsung has confirmed that a number of its flagship Galaxy S5 smartphones were sent out with non-working cameras.

The company claims the issue affects a "very limited" amount of S5 devices, according to Reuters.

Samsung has taken measures to make sure the issue doesn't occur again in new shipments.

The issue was first reported late last week and comes just a few weeks after the device was launched around the globe.

Samsung is hoping that the S5 outdoes its predecessor and rebuild momentum for the company in "increasingly competitive market," according to Reuters.

"We have discovered that the issue has been seen in a very limited portion of early production Galaxy S5 units, and was caused by complications in the ROM (Read Only Memory) component which stores the information necessary to operate the camera," Samsung said in a statement.

A Samsung spokesman declined to confirm the exact amount of phones affected by the issues, but it has been reported in the U.S. and at least two other countries.

Those who detect an issue with their S5 camera should contact Samsung's customer service or the mobile service provider, according to the company spokesman.
