"Doctor Who" fans should definitely check out the current Google homepage, which features a five-level game all about the Doctor.

Fans can pick which of the 11 Doctors is their favorite, then try to solve a mystery, Entertainment Weekly reported.

Users have to work through several settings to take back all the letters of "Google," which have been stolen by the Daleks. Finishing times can be posted for bragging points on Facebook, Twitter or Google+.

The game was designed to appeal to a broad range of fans as it commemorates the 50th anniversary of the iconic show with a cult following.

"We tried to aim for the base-level as well as the hardcore fans for this," Google head creative artist Matt Cruikshank told EW. "Initially, we were contacted about four months ago internally by a Doctor Who fan who mentioned that [the 50th anniversary of 'Doctor Who'] would make a great subject for a Doodle."

Friday marked the 50th anniversary, which was celebrated with a "Day of the Doctor" special on BBC.

"[It's] a big cultural institution back in England and it really deserves something quite special," Cruikshank said. "So we set about trying to create a game and we have a fully-interactive, multi-level game. One of the exciting things about 'Doctor Who' is he's a Time Lord, so he can travel in different dimensions to the past and to the future and also to the present. So we've tried to have as much fun with that as possible."

The "Doctor Who" game may be the search engine's best homepage Doodle yet, according to EW.

The Google creative staff thought it would be fun for users to be able to control the characters, said Cruikshank.

"We started thinking, 'Oh, wouldn't it be great if you could just  walk over here or jump over here?'" he said. "Or use a level and connect to a lift. So it became a more exploratory game where you also got a chance to prove how smart you are as a doctor."
