Polaris has announced a civilian version of its MV850 ATV, used by the U.S. Special Forces, will be in select locations starting this December.

The Sportsman WV850 H.O will come with a 77 hp 850 engine, front and rear cargo racks, an 11.75 gallon tank, and military grade transmission, according to Polaris.

Another feature will include TerrainArmor airless tires, which is an industry first. The non-pneumatic tires, which have been referred to as NPTs, are made up of a tread band supported by a polymeric web.

"We have seen great success with NPTs in military and disaster relief scenarios and are excited to bring this technology to the consumer market for extreme work applications," said David Longren, vice president of Polaris' Off-Road Division, in a press statement.

The tires can take a hit from a .50 caliber round, approximately the size of a spike-sized puncture, and continue traveling for hundreds of miles without any issues, according to Polaris.

Polaris has marked the unique vehicle for a base price of $14,999.

Other features includes a 1,500 pound tow hitch, a 3,000 pound winch, power steering, and front/rear towing capacity of 600 lbs.

A push bumper, updated chassis, larger footwells and shift-lever lock have also been confirmed by Polaris.

The vehicle will only be available in Avalanche Gray.

Interested customers can expect the MV850 to start appearing at select dealers next month in limited quantities, but Polaris is currently working on making the NPTs for other vehicles, according to the company.
