Brad Keselowski won't win his second Sprint Cup Championship this season, but he's doing his best to make it harder for other drivers to take home the trophy.
By winning at Charlotte Motor Speedway this weekend, Keselowski became the first non-Chase driver to win a Chase for the Sprint Cup race since 2011.
"It's been a tough year, man, appreciate you hanging in there," Keselowski's crew chief Paul Wolfe said over the radio after the race, according to Fox Sports. "Everybody on this team has been working hard. Hopefully, we've turned the corner here."
As if the win wasn't impressive enough, Keselowski won despite being penalized after his jack got stuck under his No. 2 Miller Ford racecar. He was able to complete a lap around the track, served his stop-and-go penalty, and restarted 22nd.
During the final restart, Keselowski entered the pits in fifth and then exited sixth. He was able to move past Matt Kenseth for second place, which set up a dramatic finish with Kasey Kahne.
"Yes, there's going to be people that take pleasure in our failures, but there's also a lot of people that take pleasure in our successes, and I'm not going to reward those that take the pleasure in our failures," Keselowski said in a statement. "I'm going to enjoy the success with those that enjoy it like I do."
Kahne and Keselowski raced side by side for the rest of the race, trading spots several times before Keselowski was able to take a commanding lead on lap 325.
Kahne finished second, and Kenseth, Jimmie Johnson and Kyle Busch rounded out the top five.
The race featured just three caution flags in the first 172 laps.
