Porsche has officially teased its new 2014 Macan before its official debut at the 2013 Los Angeles Auto Show.

Porsche will be "a lot of fun to drive" and was even compared to the Boxster or Cayman, according to Truck Trend, who took the Macan on a test ride recently.

"The large air intakes are just waiting to inhale life," Porsche said. "The side profile is sharply contoured by the sporty sloping roof line. With improved aerodynamic quality. Our designers call it the Porsche flyline."

Porsche will offer a pair of new 290-horsepower 3.0-liter V6 engines and 350-hp 3.6-liter twin-turbo engine for the new vehicle.

Porsche's seven-speed PDK automated dual-clutch manual is likely to be the only available transmission, according to the German automaker.

As the teaser photo reveals, the Macan will come equipped with Quad-LED lights, which many believe will soon be found on all Porsche vehicles.

The automaker isn't calling the vehicle a luxury crossover SUV, but a sports car with "five doors and five seats."

"We've built what we always build: a sports car," Porsche said. "Five doors, five seats and yet intimate with the road; boasting plenty of space for hobbies, leisure and sport. But no room for compromise. Compact, concentrated and intensive, but still powerful. Practical but never ordinary.

The Macan is expected to go on sale in the spring.

Porsche will likely make the Macan S available for around $52,000. The Turbo option could be sold for around $75,000.
