2013 SEMA Show Update: Hyundai Veloster Turbo Yellowcake Night Racer Unveiled Early

The 2013 Hyundai Veloster Turbo "Yellowcake" Night Racer by EGR Group was unveiled on Monday before its scheduled appearance at the 2013 SEMA Show.

The Veloster Turbo concept is the second 2013 SEMA Show concept vehicle unveiled already by the Korean automaker. Earlier this year, Hyundai debuted a 1,000-horsepower Hyundai Genesis Coupe by Bisimoto.

The Veloster Turbo concept features a yellow paint treatment, which can be seen in a leaked photo released by Hyundai.

The color is technically called "Yellowcake," a reference to partially refined uranium ore that is sometimes used as an "intermediate step" in the production of nuclear weapons, according to the automaker.

Hyundai is also one of the first automakers to reveal a vehicle before the 2013 SEMA Show.

"EGR created a very special night-focused time attack car that perfectly showcases Veloster Turbo's inherently sporty DNA," said Mike O'Brien, Hyundai Motor America vice president of product planning, in a statement.

The new Night Racer comes included with a Wurton roof-mounted LED light bar and custom ONEeighty-branded headlights.

Non-cosmetic modifications include a custom roll cage, AEM strut brace, and ARK coil-over suspension.

Bisimoto Engineering increased the output on the 1.6-liter turbocharged direct-injected four-cylinder engine to 250 hp. Oversized Brembo brakes, DPE three-piece racing wheels and Toyo semi-slick racing tires are also standard.
