BMW has finally revealed specs for its new M3 and M4 Coupe ahead of its launch at the 2014 Detroit Auto Show.

Both vehicles will deliver 424 hp from a new, twin-turbo 3.0-liter inline-6 engine. The smallest version of the new models will weigh under 3,307 lbs, despite the fact that there is 369 lb.-ft. of torque.

The new engine will be capable of going 0-60 in under 4 seconds according to BMW.

The new vehicle's engineer Albert Biermann expects over 60 percent of the combined sales will go to the M4, and 30 percent will go to the M3. Around 5-7 percent will go towards the M4 Cabriolet.

Each vehicle will have the option for a six-speed manual or dual-clutch transmission that makes the vehicle faster but will add 60 lbs to the car.

The M3 and M4 will come with 19-inch forged alloy wheels including Michelin's Pilot Super Sport 255/35ZR19 tires at the front and 275/35ZR19s at the rear.

Both the M3 and M4 will retain their signature 50/50 front-to-rear weight distribution, though M's Michael Wimbeck said it was close.

"Generally it's 50/50. It's easier to find parts at the rear of the car to make the car lighter but then you have to chase more and more expensive parts in the front to keep the balance," said Wimbeck according to BMW.

Both the M3 and M4 are expected to go on sale this spring.
