Mercedes-AMG Unveils Impressive Powertrain Details For Project One [VIDEO]

It's been known for a while that Mercedes-AMG has been working on a hypercar called the Project One. The company, however, hasn't revealed much about the hybrid's details until now.

Mercedes-AMG released a teaser to the Project One showing what goes on underneath its body. The engineering of its impressive powertrain revealed the company built the car akin to a Lewis Hamilton 2015 Formula 1 car, as per Road and Track.

Mercedes-AMG fitted Project One with a powerful 1000 horsepower. It also has a 1.6 V6 turbo engine that's capable of revving up to 11,000 rpm and idling at 4,000 rpm.

The hybrid car has four electric motors and two battery packs that can produce four times more energy than a typical F1, as per Automobile Mag. The engine can go up to 31,000 miles (50,000 kilometers) per rebuilding.

The car has a special steering wheel but it has also been fitted with power buttons, should the driver choose to go faster and smoother on the road. The drivetrain's total weight is at 926 pounds and the battery packs are at about 220 pounds, as per Motor 1. Its specs indicate the potential of the car's performance and it looks like it will be an easy but exhilarating ride.

Lovers of fast cars should keep an eye out for this street-legal F1 vehicle soon as AMG CEO Tobias Moer said the road testing for the Project One will begin when the development phase is complete. Speculations are that the company will launch this vehicle to the public during the Frankfurt Motor Show that's happening in September.

Mercedes-AMG will be building one Project One car per day until it can fulfill all of its deliveries in 2020. The company intends to release 275 units in total and each of these units already have a reserved buyer. The fast car isn't restricted anywhere in the world, except China.
