BMW 4 Series GT To Be An Electric Car; Poses Great Threat To Tesla

BMW 4 Series GT is recently reported to come as a fully electric vehicle before the decade ends. As a result, it poses a great threat to Tesla Model 3. The 4 Series GT is enough reason to make Elon Musk a little worried as his cars may no longer be the best of the best upon its official release.

The BMW 4 Series GT is expected to arrive by 2020. It is also aptly called as 2020 4 Series GT and positioned to go neck-and-neck against Tesla Model 3. It is expected to run for 311 miles in two charges. BMW's ultimate desire for the 4 Series GT is to be as fast as the 313-horsepower 335 xDrive.

Having said that, the BMW 4Series GT may be an electric speed-demon accelerating from zero to 60 mph in under 5-seconds, 4.9-seconds to be exact. It will also have a top speed of 155 mph. Sure, it is not as fast as the others, but for a vehicle of its kind, such performance record is not bad at all.

As BMW becomes totally serious about producing an Electric Vehicle, Elon Musk now has serious competition. This is some friendly competition which will, at the end of the day, benefit the most discerning buyers. BMW 4 Series GT is reported to replace the 3 Series GT and will be offered with different powerplant like gas, hybrid, diesel, and of course, the electric vehicle version.

Even though the technical specifications of the BMW 4 Series GT Electric Vehicle have not yet been confirmed, industry experts are sure to predict that it may come similar as Tesla's. Tesla has been leading the market in terms of electric vehicles, with its brute speed and efficiency, so BMW is expected to follow that lead. It may not be the pioneer in such a technology, but it is expected to come great enough to rival the top.

As BMW is aiming to have 100,000 combined electric and hybrid sales this year, Chairman Harald Kruger says there are no signs of stopping. Since the Bavarian company has some three more years to develop the BMW 4 Series GT, it is expected to be the best of its kind. Elon Musk should be very scared (in a good way, that is) as a worthy competition is underway.
