A stuntman attempting to set a Guinness World Record while crossing a river on a zip-line from his hair died during a stunt this weekend.
Sailendra Nath Roy, 49, died from a heart attack while zip-lining on a wire set 600 feet above the Teesta River in West Bengal, India according to a report by Sky News.
Roy holds the Guinness World Record for covering the longest distance on a zip-line while hanging from his pony tail.
While Roy's hair was attached to a pulley on a wire, he managed to get around half the distance he originally set out to accomplish when all of a sudden he stopped.
A police report claims that Roy's pony tail got stick in the wheeler during the stunt, leaving him hanging for 25 minutes before help could get to him. As he tried to free himself, he tried continuing the stunt with his hands. It was around then that Roy suffered cardiac arrest and died hanging from the zip-line.
The dare devil was finally brought down 45 minutes later and was pronounced dead shortly after being brought to a local hospital.
"He was brought dead into the emergency ward. He was already dead when he was admitted to the hospital," Dr AK Saha, Resident Doctor, Siliguri district hospital said according to MeriNews. "We have sent his body for post-mortem. The official reports are not yet out, but we believe it is due to a heart attack. He must have had a cardiac arrest."
No medical personnel or ambulances were present during the stunt. An autopsy has been planned for later on today, April 29.
Roy achieved the Guinness World Record after covering 271 feet on a zip-line while attached by his hair back in 2011. He also used his hair to drag a train on the Darjeeling Himalayan Railway for approximately 8 feet according to Sky News.
