Crossover SUVs are definitely the most in-demand type of vehicle nowadays. It gives the whole vehicle a different character while being slightly bigger and higher than all others. The 2017 Mazda CX-3 is one crossover SUV that is highly rated and commended by many industry experts. However, it also has its fair share of shortcomings as no vehicle is made perfect for that matter.

The 2017 Mazda CX-3 is considered Mazda's least expensive crossover, however, it can still be premium and hi-tech as an option which makes it go neck-and-neck with the larger CX-5 and CX-9. It is offered in three different trim levels which include the base model, mid-level CX-3, and the Grand Touring line.

All models are powered by 2.0-liter inline-four which is capable of producing 146-horsepower and 146 pound-feet of torque. Front-wheel drive is standard and is only available in six-speed automatic transmission. It is also rated as a Top Safety Pick+ by the IIHS. It did earn impressive ratings in all other IIHS crashworthiness categories making it one of the safest crossover SUV in the market.

The 2017 CX-3 also is considered a more top notch in utility and style. It does ooze with so much character because of its sharp-looking sheet metal and an interior which gives both passengers and drivers a feel of being inside an expensive and luxurious SUV. This is attributed to the premium materials used.

The CX-3 also doesn't disappoint in terms of its fuel efficiency. The CX-3 2.0-liter inline-4, Front Wheel Drive returned an EPA of 29 mpg in the city, 31 mpg combined, and 34 mpg on the highway.

It also has an intuitive infotainment system. Its combination of touch and rotary-knob commands provides users with options. However, it does not support latest features such as connectivity to Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

The 2017 Mazda CX-3 is one impressive crossover SUV in its own right. It is definitely one of the best at present and will continue to impress most car enthusiasts and industry experts for good period of time.
