Recent reports have surfaced that Jaguar is getting ready to give its XJ line the boot. This has certainly made industry experts and car enthusiasts talking in relation to this recent development. Jaguar is known for producing opulent luxury cars so it is imperative to dig deeper into this latest news.

It is reported that the future of XJ is uncertain. With Jaguar having a lot of exciting model in its lineup, unfortunately, the XJ has been somehow left out. David Larsen, Product Manager of Jaguar said at the 2017 New York International Auto Show that there is little to report on the flagship sedan.

The Jaguar XJ has been introduced seven years ago. This makes the XJ the oldest in all of Jaguar's lineup and in its category as well. Unfortunately, sales for the XJ have not been as impressive compared to other Jaguar's lineup. With this said, Jaguar may either have it replaced or make it retire altogether.

Larsen also added that Jaguar is looking at future opportunities of where it can possibly go. He also did not say much when asked about Jaguar's possible plans of having the XJ retire. Nothing has been made conclusive if Jaguar is indeed going to stop the XJ. However, given the fact that it is the oldest and slowest selling of all of Jaguar's lineup, it may be a possibility.

It is good to know at least that the 2017 Jaguar XJ has a lot of promise as it is considered the pinnacle of Jaguar sports sedans. The XJ is sports-infused which was redesigned with high-performance in mind. On the other hand, there is the XJL which is made classier for its quilted seats and excellent rear seat infotainment system.

The fact that Jaguar has invested on its 2017 XJ, the future may look encouraging. However, this may be the last XJ model to be ever released. At this point, everything remains a speculation.

While many hope for Jaguar to keep the XJ, some may think it is about time to retire to make way for something new. Any official statements on this recent development will immediately be reported.
