All 2017 models come with cosmetic updates, including a wide-mouth grille, Led Lighting accents at front and rear, and a generally classier appearance. The Highlander Hybrid comes with a forward-collision warning, adaptive cruise control, and automated emergency braking. Blind-spot monitoring is standard for trims above the base LE. Overall, the Highlander Hybrid is a practical and useful three-row family crossover.

The Hybrid was tested around Detroit in a rural area with more than a fair share of rough and unpaved roads. Thanks to its height and its all-wheel drive system, the Highlander Hybrid performed well in the muddy and trench-lined roads.
On top of that, the Highlander was also tested on snow. And again, with its all-wheel drive system, the vehicle had no issues driving on the snow-covered dirt roads. In short, the Highlander Hybrid is the most capable hybrid with an electric driving mode on sale today.
