The 2018 Buick Regal family is adding the hatchback and wagon body styles. Now, the U.S. will have more options than the sedan once the two other variants launch later this fall.

The 2018 Buick Regal Sportback is the hatchback version of the upscale sports sedan. With a 2.0 turbocharged 4-cylinder engine, the Sportback churns out 250 horsepower and 260 pound-feet of torque for its front-wheel drive. This variant also has a nine-speed automatic transmission.

Another variant of the Sportback features all-wheel drive, which produces 295 pound-feet of torque. This one, though, only has an eight-speed automatic transmission. When it comes to cargo, Buick claims that it has more space than its competitors BMW 4 Series Gran Coupe and Audi A5 Sportback.

On the other hand, there's the Buick Regal TourX, which will face the BMW 3 Series Sport Wagon and Audi A4 Allroad. The wagon vehicle is also powered by the same engine as the hatchback version. It only comes in an all-wheel drive with an eight-speed automatic transmission, which means it also has 250 horsepower and 295 torque output.

Both Regal variants are bigger than their rivals and both boast of General Motor's latest technology and safety features. Buyers will get a 7-inch infotainment display with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, and a 4G LTE Wi-Fi hotspot as standard equipment. However, they have a choice to get an 8-inch touchscreen with factory navigation instead.

The Regal Sportback and TourX are also equipped with driving assistance features such as adaptive cruise control and a lane-keeping assist among others. The Regal does not only protect its passengers but also pedestrians with its front pedestrian braking system that detects human impact.

The 2018 Buick Regal Sportback and TourX will be shown off at the New York Auto Show on April 14 to April 23. Both will then be made available in fall.
