Rumors about the revival of the BMW 8 Series coupe have been buzzing around the motoring community for quite some time. Sparking a lot of discussions lately are a handful of spy shots of a car believed to be that of the new BMW M8 have surfaced on several news portals.

The supposed M8 was spotted doing test laps on the Nurburgring. The car is adorned with the usual camouflage decals, but this did not deter enthusiasts from speculating that it is indeed the resurrected BMW 8 Series. Word around the motoring community is that BMW is working on a new car bearing the M badge and it may hit the streets before the end of the year, according to Auto Express.

Rumors claim that the upcoming 8 Series will come in either two engine options. First is the 4.0-liter Biturbo V8 engine, or BMW could also choose to pick the more powerful V12 engine. Both rear-wheel and all-wheel drivetrains are also expected to be available.

Each of the two engines is capable of producing at least 600horsepower. This massive firepower is enough to propel the car from zero to 6mph in less than 4 seconds. BMW has yet to confirm the specs nor the existence of the new 8 Series.

Regarding its design, the revived BMW M8 will most likely be based on the Pininfarina Bran Lusso Coupe concept which was introduced a couple of years ago. Many observers have pointed this out after the leaked photographs started circulating on several blog sites.

Rumors claim that the BMW 8 Series will include a handful of other models, aside from the performance-oriented M8. Discussions around the motoring community have pointed out the possibility of an 825, 830, 860, and M850 models, according to Motor1.
