Nissan is now recalling affected units of Murano, models from MY2015-2017, due to the potential brake fluid leak from the defective Anti-lock Brake System (ABS). The automaker confirmed new parts are now available and that they will provide a service vehicle while replacing the defective part.

Nissan has made an announcement on its official site regarding the campaign to recall affected Murano vehicles with defective Anti-lock Brake System (ABS). According to the post, the safety recall is due to the defective part that may result to a brake fluid leak which can also lead to an electrical short. The automaker further warns that in rare cases, the defect may also result to a fire incident.

The post explains that Nissan had a supplier issue pointing to the possible leak of the ABS actuator pump seal. This defect will result to an electric circuit board malfunction. The automaker warns that if this condition remains, there is also a possibility to result in a fire.

The model year vehicles affected by the defective ABS are the MY2015-2017 Murano vehicles sporting the intelligent Cruise Control. A few units of Murano Hybrid are also affected. Aside from the Murano range, the MY2016-2017 Nissan Maxima range is also affected.

For immediate actions, Nissan encourages the owners of the affected vehicles to rush park their vehicles outdoors, not near other vehicles or structures. The automaker also advises the owners of Nissan Murano to rush to the service centers for immediate inspection and repair of their vehicles.

To immediately know if the vehicle sports the defective ABS, owners should check after engine start if the ABS warning lamp illuminates for more than ten seconds. If such is the case, it is a red alert signal for the driver to stop driving and rush to contact Nissan Roadside Assistance at 1-800-647-7261 and the automaker will send a towing service to pick up the affected vehicle, free of charge.

Once the Nissan Murano is brought to the center, the automaker will inspect the serial number of the ABS actuator to verify if the part is included in the defective parts. Once confirmed, the company will replace the ABS actuator with a new part that is also free of charge.

Meanwhile, Nissan will provide service vehicles to those affected Murano units while undergoing the replacement process. The automaker also announced that the new parts are already on hand so there is no need to worry on longer waiting repair time.
