Police are currently searching for a couple that reportedly crashed their $250,000 Lamborghini and left it on the side of the road, only hours after purchasing the vehicle according to the Associated Press.

Police were called to a street in La Jolla, San Diego at around 11:45 p.m. on Mar. 18. Locals reported the 200 black Murcielego and stated that the vehicle left I-5 at a "high speed" before finally crashing.

A man and woman then quickly got out of the car, and ran off, officially leaving the scene of the crime.

While police have yet to catch the two, they were able to find paperwork confirming the car was purchased just a few hours before the crash took place.

Once found, the driver of the vehicle will face criminal charges for leaving the scene of an accident. The driver could face a misdemeanor charge at most according to the CW.

Police can't worry about criminal charges yet however, as their main focus is finding the two people and figuring out who was driving it at the time. There is no current indication that the vehicle was stolen, but all options have to be considered according to Lt. Kevin Mayer of the San Diego Police Department.

"There's a variety of reasons that someone would abandon a car after a crash," Lt. Mayer said according to the OpposingViews.com. "If it was stolen, if the driver was too scared to report a crash or if the were drinking and driving."

The front and rear driver's side were "smashed," but the owner of the car will be able to claim it after answering all questions involving the crash if they do contact the police according to The Daily Mail.
