ColorWare To Release Retro Version Of The iPhone 7 Plus Sporting A 1980s Mac Design

Professional painting service provider and gadget company ColorWare announced that the company is releasing a custom designed limited edition iPhone 7 Plus. The mobile device is called the iPhone 7 Plus Retro Edition.

ColorWare to release custom designed iPhone 7 Plus Retro Edition. The design of the smartphone is said to be inspired by the 1980s Mac, even sporting the multi-colored Apple rainbow logo as well as dark beige stripes on the edges. The gadget company will only be producing 25 units of the limited edition smartphone all of which will include an authenticity number.

As reported by the website Apple Insider, the iPhone 7 Plus Retro Edition will be painted to look like a 1980s Macintosh desktop computer. The device will not be locked to a specific carrier and will comes SIM-free.

According to MacRumors, the Retro Edition will feature 256 gigabytes of internal storage. It will come with EarPods, a USB power adapter, a Lightning to USB cable, and documentation.

Speaking about the custom-designed smartphone, the gadget company said that the device will go through a "labor-intensive process of disassembly, cleaning, masking, painting, and inspection." Before being reassembled, it will go through buffing and then a final inspection before put into its original packaging.

The smartphone will retail at a whopping US$1,899. A normal iPhone 7 Plus with same internal storage capacity as the custom-designed Retro Edition is currently has a price tag of US$969. Customers who order the device today can expect to receive it in two to three weeks.

ColorWare is known to have released other retro-themed Apple devices in the past. Retro versions of the MacBook, iMac, MacBook Air, and the iPhone 6S have all appeared on the professional painting service provider and gadget company's website. Given that only 25 units of the device will be released, owning an iPhone 7 Plus Retro Edition will most likely put one in the elite class of iPhone users.
