2017 Alfa Romeo 4C Review: One Of The Best-Looking Cars But Is That Enough?

Car enthusiasts buy mainly for looks and performance, some go for the looks more than anything else. In this aspect, the 2017 Alfa Romeo 4C may just do the trick. It is considered as one of the best looking cars on the road and because of its exceptional body work. However, industry experts only have good words for it for its good looks and not much else.

According to The Car Connection, the 2017 Alfa Romeo 4C is as close to a budget car as most will ever get. However, many factors were compromised which resulted in its 5.8 rating out of 10 points. It may have passed the middle mark but this rating is considered mediocre compared to other cars of its kind.

It is best to highlight what this ride is all about- its exterior. The 4C is considered to be more appealing because of its profile as it features a transparent engine cover similar to the ones used by Ferrari. Its exterior mainly consists of scoops, curves, cat-eyed side glass, round LED taillights, and the signature Alfa style. Well, the interior looks (note looks and not experience) don't disappoint as well. The low-slung cabin is dotted with red accents and a flat bottom steering wheel.

It used textured plastics which is meant to look like the road surface and is also intermingled with carbon-fiber surfaces. The gauges are also rendered a 7.0-inch LCD display which is made even more advanced as it changes colors depending on the driving mode.

The Alfa Romeo 4C is fast, powerful and light. It is fast as it can accelerate from zero to 60 mph in just 4.5 seconds. Powerful because it can produce 237-horsepower and 258 pound-feet of torque. It is lighter than Porsche Boxster by 500-pounds, Chevrolet Corvette by 800-pounds and Jaguar F-Type by 1,000-pounds.

So not too bad. However, good things may stop here. The 2017 Alfa Romeo 4C is reported to have sacrificed everything else just so it would look appealing. First off, it failed to deliver riding comfort which both the driver and passenger deserve to experience. It is reported that the cabin is too cramped and uncomfortable.

Though considered a budget car, it splurged on unnecessary luxuries which totally veers away from it being easy in the pocket. End of the day, it is not a cheap car, nor any Alfa Romeos will ever be. Because of this, it is considered not practical in every sense of the word according to industry experts.

As added by Edmunds, the ride is even bone-crushingly harsh, especially with the Track Package. In relation to the interiors, it does have few creature comforts and cargo and storage space is almost non-existent. Handling is also very challenging as it requires high-effort at low speeds. There is also no rear-view camera available which gives it poor rear view visibility.

For looks department, the 2017 Alfa Romeo 4C is a definite stand-out, no questions about that. However, if a driver is keen on driving and handling experience and the all-important comfort, this ride may not be the one. End of the day, people are willing to sacrifice one thing or the other so if looks bare too much importance, by all means, the 4C is one of the best around.
