Honda Recalls 250,000 Cars Worldwide For Braking Issues

Honda is recalling approximately 250,000 vehicles worldwide for braking issues that can cause cars to suddenly stop even if the driver isn't pressing the brake pedal according to the Associated Press.

The issue lies with improper electronics and wiring in the vehicle-stability-assist system according to a Honda spokesperson.

The news was revealed Thursday, Mar. 14 that 183,000 vehicles in the U.S. alone would be recalled including the Acura RL, Acura MDX and Pilot models.

Over 56,000 more vehicles were recalled in Japan, as Odyssey, Legend, StepWgn, and Elysion models were also affected.

Other locations around the world dealing with recalled vehicles include:

  -Canada: 8,000 vehicles

  -Australia: 1,000 vehicles

  -Mexico- 300 vehicles

  -Germany- 70 vehicles

No crashes or injuries have been reported as of press time.

While no crashes have occurred, some drivers have issued complaints to Honda about the problem, including 17 in Japan and at least one in the U.S.

The vehicles being recalled were produced from March 2004 through May 2006 according to the Associated Press.
