Known for their affordable cars, Kia will expand their crossover-SUV cars with The 2018 Kia Stonic. This brand new SUV will be different from its predecessor Kia KX3 that will be on sale in some countries.

Having said that, the car will have a different look from Kia KX3 that has the look of an SUV and sports car. It has a coupe-inspired glass area, small rear spoiler, a subtle belt line and stylish wheel arches.

The front look is enhanced with wraparound LED headlights and a distinctive new matte-chrome tiger-nose grille. It has high ground-clearance that allows on-road stability, as stated in a previous report.

Meanwhile, the 2018 Kia Stonic has the same look and mechanical system as Rio hatchback. However, the car has a more conventional look than Rio but a tad funkier.  It also has some features similar to the 2013 Provo concept.

Avid Kia drivers want a powertrain that has a series of inline-4s, it might have the same engine as Rio. Aside from that, they also want a say if their car will have a front-wheel or all-wheel drive and they also want a choice between manual or automatic transmission, according to Motor Authority.

The 2018 Kia Stonic has two versions of turbocharged 3-cylinder 1.0-liter gasoline. It has a 171 Nm torque that allows 100 to 120 hp.

The car also might also have an optional two 1.4 liter diesel that has a 240 Nm torque. It might use a CRDi technology to power the new addition to Kia models.

Furthermore, Carsoid reported that the 2018 Kia Stonic might have two other variations, 76 hp and 89 hp. The car is bound to rival top notch brands like Chevrolet, Ford, Honda, Mazda, Nissan, Toyota and Volkswagen.

Recently, critics spotted the car performing a test run on the frozen ground. The car seemed to be working well on snowy grounds.

Actually, there has been debates about its name. Stonic seemed to be just a temporary name for the new addition to Kia vehicles. However, its name was already patented by Kia on October 2016.

The 2018 Kia Stonic will debut at the 2017 Frankfurt Auto Show. To date, Stonic seemed to be the primary name of the car, there have been no reports that the car will be called otherwise.
