Police have opened up an investigation in New Jersey after seeing a YouTube video where it appears a woman outside a club was punched in the face by a police officer.

The video, which was filmed on a cell phone, shows a fight outside Envy Night Club in Elizabeth, N.J. The video ends after a police officer shows up in the crowd and appears to hit a woman right in the head.

No one involved  has been interviewed about the video as of press time, but police are now trying to figure out what happened exactly according to NBC News.

The 20-second clip appeared on YouTube on March 3 entitled "Woman punched in the face by cop during brawl at club envy NJ" and had been viewed over 6,000 times as of March 6. The video was eventually removed, but not before others re-posted it.

The woman filming the video can clearly be heard saying "World Star," a reference to World Star Hip Hop, popular website which features street fight videos.

"This needs some oversight before this gets out of hand," Chairman of the Elizabeth Chapter of the People's Organization for Progrss James Carey said to The Star-Ledger. "These guys are out of control."

In the video, the officer can be heard saying "Get down on the ground!" and when the woman didn't listen he proceeded to hit her in the head. The crowd they started screaming, shortly before the video fades to black.

An employee for the club spoke to The Huffington Post, and said while they are aware of the incident, they have no comment as of now.
