Earlier this year, Kingston made headlines after announcing the newest member of the company's growing DataTraveler Ultimate GT family at the Consumer Electronics Show. Recently, the company stick to its promise and released the 2TB DataTraveler Ultimate GT which currently stands as the world's largest capacity USB flash drive.

Kingston announced on Monday that is starting to ship the 2TB flash drive. Based on the photos provided by the company, the 2TB DataTraveler is not exactly a good-looking piece of hardware. Although, the capacity of the drive itself is enough to woo any user.

In a rough estimate, the flash drive can hold up to 70 hours of videos in 4K resolution. That is a massive amount of storage space for a hardware that is barely the size of a thumb.

The 2TB Kingston DataTraveler Ultimate GT is one of its kind, perhaps the only one in the world. Which is why Kingston slapped it with a pretty hefty price tag of $2,273. However, the USB flash drive is currently on "promo" with a price of $1,625, according to CNet. Kingston has yet to confirm up to when the promo period will run. The USB flash drive is also available in 1TB variant and it costs $942.50.

The 2TB Kingston DataTraveler Ultimate GT supports USB 3.1. It has a read speed of 300MB/s and a write speed of 200MB/s. The USB flash drive is housed in a zinc alloy metal casing and it weighs 4.8 ounces. It measures 2.96inch x1.06 inch x 0.93inch.

In a statement acquired by Hot Hardware, Kingston flash business manager Jean Wong said, "With the release of the DataTraveler Ultimate GT, users can push the boundaries of their mobile storage needs and ensure that they have more than enough space to store their video, photos and files in a small form factor."
