It seems that Samsung has not given up on their Note line which is great news for many Samsung lovers, and their Galaxy Note 8 is still anticipated for release this year. Samsung has allegedly decided to change the name of the smartphone, and it will be called "Baikal."

The new codename of the new flagship phone comes from a large lake located in Siberia, which is also known as the deepest lake on the planet. But it is still unknown why Samsung have decided to call the new phablet Baikal.

On the other hand, there have been reports that the Seoul-based tech giant is developing a new feature on the flagship phone that is speculated to be better than the new iPhone 8. Details are not yet specified, but speculations suggest a 4K curved infinity display and 256GB variant.

According to Inquistr, the new Samsung Galaxy Note 8 would be the most important gadget of Samsung since it is the company's first flagship smartphone after the Galaxy Note 7 tragedy last year. Samsung announced that the flagship phone would not be appearing on the upcoming Mobile World Congress next week in Barcelona, Spain to ensure that only the best specs are inside the smartphone.

The flagship smartphone is said to equip a Snapdragon 835 SoC, 6GB of RAM, and has a dual-lens camera. It is also expected to come with a big battery, IP68 certificate, an iris scanner, and a stylus pen with speakers.

In addition, front display of the flagship phone would be a 6.2-inch dual edged curved display that is found on the Galaxy S7 Edge. It would also have a bezel-less design that would leave no space to put on the Samsung logo on the front. It would also have the traditional 3.5mm headphone socket.

Reports suggest that two models of the upcoming flagship phone would be released, and both would feature a dual-edged curved display that is similar to the S7 Edge. The codenames of the two phablets would be Dream and Dream 2. The screens of the two phones would curve down the right and left sides of the gadget.

It's still unknown on when would be the release date of the new Samsung Galaxy Note 8 but is has been suggested that it will be around in August. This is primarily since this was when the Note 7 was revealed and most of those that came before it.
