The super rare Porsche 928 was originally bought by its current owner for spare parts, but after discovering that it was owned by no other than George Harrison, the lead guitarist of the Beatles, he decided to restore the car and is looking to sell.
Mirror reported that the Porsche 928 was bought by George Harrison back in 1980 when he lived in Henley-on-Thames, Oxfordshire. The car was driven for four years only. In 2003 the car was bought by Raj Sedha, who after finding whose car it was, decided to restore it and put up for auction.
The rare Porsche 928 S Coupe is expected to be sold for at least £20,000 when it goes up for auction. The car comes with base black color, with black stitching on its leather interior. The engine has been completely restored as well.
BBC tells the story of how Raj Sedha found out whose Porsche it was. Back in 2003, Raj Sedha from Leeds bought the Porsche 928 for spare parts. He was about to dismantle the car before his wife looked in the logbook to find it had been owned by no other than George Harrison. Mr. Sedha told BBC that he was figuring out which parts he wanted to take off, but then his partner ran out of the house with the logbook and said that the car belonged to George Harrison and should not be dismantled in such a way.
At first Raj Sedha was unaware of who George Harrison was, but once he found out he decided to restore the car and put it up for auction. The car sat 8 years in Raj’s garage before he started restoring it. His goal for the car was to have an owner who’s really going to appreciate it. The car is going to be up for an auction during the Omega Auction’s annual Beatles sale on March 17.
