AMD Radeon Vega Versus Nvidia GeForce GTX 1080 Ti At 2017 GDC: Which Giant Will Reign Supreme?

AMD and Nvidia are going head to head in the upcoming 2017 Game Developers Conference, which is less than 2 weeks away. Both companies could unleash their highly anticipated products on the same day: AMD Radeon Vega lineup and Nvidia GTX 1080 Ti.

The annual Game Developers Conference has always concentrated on software development as their main concern during their yearly meetings. This year, though, something different seems to be brewing.

On the hardware front, it would seem both AMD and Nvidia are poised to hold their respective events alongside GDC 2017, which scheduled to take place on February 28, the same day as GDC 2017. Both have recently sent out invites for their respective events.

AMD. AMD is reviving their Capsaicin event that they debuted last year.  If what's on the promotional pitch on their event registration is true, more Radeon Vega graphics card details are on the horizon.  The possibility is further strengthened by the Capsaicin page on their website saying the event is "an exclusive glimpse into the Summer of Radeon and beyond!"

TechSpot reports that the AMD event will begin live-streaming at 10:30 AM PT. The highly sought-after AMD Ryzen CPUs could possibly take center stage during the "Capsaicin and Cream event," although they are already expected to launch by March.

Nvidia. But wait! AMD competitor Nvidia is not going to be left out.  The green giant is holding its own "Geforce GTX Gaming Celebration" on the same night.  This would begin from 6:30 p.m to 11:30 p.m, according to PCWorld. The event invitation does hint of a possible product presentation.  Nvidia's history of announcing new hardware at GDC seems to point to this possibility.

The new GeForce GTX 1080 Ti may not make an appearance. But Nvidia definitely will have something up its sleeve for the event.  The "GeForce Now" for PCs and Mac that allows you to stream PC games from Nvidia's servers to any computer is set to be released in early March.  GDC 2017 should be a fine venue for a product launch of this caliber.

While both giants are ready to unleash their contenders, what is certain is that the 2017 Game Developers Conference will be nothing short of boring. Which product do you think will hog all the spotlight, AMD Radeon Vega or Nvidia GeForce GTX 1080 Ti, if it does make an appearance? In the meantime, stay tuned for more updates as the GDC draws closer.
