General Motors confirmed this week that they were approached by organizers of the Super Bowl halftime show to have their new 2014 Chevrolet Corvette featured, but the plan was canceled last minute according to The Detroit News.

NFL spokesman Greg Aiello stated he couldn't confirm why the vehicle was cut, as the call wasn't his to make.

"All creative decisions were made by the production team," said Aiello to The Detroit News.

Yahoo Autos posted a report by style blogger Lauren Craig, who won a trip to take part in the event, which stated that she learned earlier last week Beyonce would be "popping out" of a Corvette during her halftime show performance.

"We weren't even sure what to expect, as she had axed the red Corvette from the show, but she definitely made the right decisions," Craig said in the report according to Yahoo Autos.

"The public's response to the new Corvette Stingray has been extraordinary, so we were glad to help when we were approached by the producers of the Super Bowl half time show about the possibility of integrating a car into the show production," Pat Morrissey, GM's director of product and brand communications, said in a press statement.

Rumors had been making their way around about a month before the Super Bowl that the new Corvette would be appearing in some fashion during Beyonce's performance. Michael Albano, the head of Chevrolet communications, stated on Feb. 1 that they would not be taking part in the show, and that they didn't even offer the former Destiny's Child singer a new Stingray.

Approximately 108 million people tuned into Sunday's Super Bowl XLVII, which ranks as the third most-watched television event ever in the U.S according to Yahoo. The halftime show was a production of the National Football League, which has yet to comment on the absence of the new Corvette Stingray.

"We worked with all the parties involved on a variety of possibilities, including one scenario that would have included the new Corvette Stingray as part of the show," said Morrisseey in a press statement. "In the end, it did not work out, but we were honored to be asked to be involved and pleased the Corvette was the vehicle of choice."
