AMD Ryzen Update: Benchmarks, Full Lineup and Prices, Specs, Clock Speeds, and Coolers Leaked

The AMD Ryzen CPUs are expected to release very, very soon. Most recently, so much new information has leaked. This includes official benchmarks, a full lineup with prices, specs, clock speeds, and coolers.

Benchmarks. WCCFTech reported that a recent leak has shown the single and multi-threaded benchmarks for the new CPUs. For the multi-threaded benchmarks, different tests show that the Ryzen 7 1700X apparently outperformed every other CPU in 5 out of 8 tests. The other CPUs tested include Intel's fastest 8 core chip (Broadwell-E i7 6700K) and the 8 core extreme edition Haswell-E i7 5960X. However, overall, the Ryzen came behind the i7-5960X and the i7-6900K.

As for single-threaded benchmarks, AMD performed very well. While the sample did not even take into account the Turbo clock speed, the 1700X managed to successfully beat 5960X and the 6800K but fell slightly behind the 6900k. Additionally, it came nowhere near the i7-7700k Kaby Lake.

While the Ryzen 1700X was not the top performer, it is not the top model in the series as there are still the higher-specced 1800X and 1800 Pro that has yet to be tested. Additionally, a 1900X could also release. The overclocking and turbo speeds were also not taken into consideration. Moreover, considering the price point of the Ryzen CPUs, it did very well against the Intel CPUs. All in all, AMD has definitely come a long way since its last generation Piledriver chip.

Lineup and Prices. The full price list leaked recently. The Ryzen 7 series prices for 1800x, 1700x, and 1700 are $499, $389, and $319, respectively. The 5 series prices for 1600X, 1500, 1400X, and 1300 are $259, $229, $199, and $175, respectively. The 3 series prices for 1200X and 1100 are $149 and $129, respectively. Coolers. In another report, AMD has added two new boxed coolers. The coolers offer a much-needed update to the Wraith cooler which debuted last year. The three that will release are for 65W CPUs, the second is for 95W CPUs, and the third will likely be for the Ryzen Black Editions. The Black Edition units use the letter X at the end of their model numbers, like the 1800X and the 1700X.

The AMD Ryzen is back in the gaming world! While many will argue that the Intel is still superior, the new Zen architecture CPU is still in its infancy stages and has much room to grow.
