2017 HSV GTSR W1 is described as a "performance monster." The Chevrolet Corvette ZR1 may overtake them in the race, but HSV is confident that they can push their model for family driving.

In an interview with CarAdvice, HSV engineering director Joel Stoddart expressed his great satisfaction with their output with the ludicrous 2017 HSV GTSR W1. According to the director, "extreme" was the only fit outcome for the new model and brand.

The director explained that they value progress in performance, especially in their organization. Joel Stoddart stressed that they are pursuing continuous push up in the level of performance.

The director also cited how the W427 and LS7 have been thought to have reached the maximum, if not perfection. Then he realized they have created another progress by coming up with the upgraded LSA which gave a completely new level of performance.

Following the LSA, Joel Stoddart also recalled how he thought the GTS has already reached the limit. He even mentioned that the GTS is the conclusion of their journey and that he could no longer imagine where else they could go.

Finally, they came up with another milestone with the 2017 HSV GTSR W1. The director said he is very happy with how they have reached such milestone.

In comparison with the Chevrolet Corvette ZR1, the director revealed some advantages of the rival. Interestingly, Joel Stoddart was humble enough to admit that the tires of ZR1 are the kind of tires they prefer. He also mentioned that the ZR1 has a considerable weight advantage over their model.

However, despite the advantages of the rival, the director still expressed his confidence over their model. He boldly stated that the W1 is a "performance monster."

Joel Stoddart acknowledged the fact that the ZR1 could overtake them in the racetrack, but he also strongly believes that they would push the HSV GTSR W1 for a family saloon. He further emphasized that they have a strong winning chance if the objective is family driving.
