Tesla Model 3 News: Musk Says It Won't Have the Model S and Model X Battery

The Tesla Model 3 is highly anticipated among fans of the company and electric vehicles in general. The company's CEO, Elon Musk, has recently announced that it will sport a different battery from the Model S and Model X.

Tesla Motors' chief executive has taken to his twitter account once again to reveal that the Model 3 will not get the same 100 kWh battery as their other models. This is because the latest model's wheelbase is too short to support the battery. This news has come as a shock for those who were hoping that the entry-level model would also have record-breaking range, as well as speed.

Tesla Motors is aiming for its latest model to rival the Chevrolet Bolt. The Bolt has a 60 kWh battery pack which still allows it to offer a good 238 miles (383 km) of range. It is very likely that the Model 3 will also have a 60 kWh battery that can offer the same range. Additionally, many hope that it will also be as affordable as the Chevrolet electric vehicle.

Carscoops reported that Musk has also announced that apart from ruling out a 100 kWh battery for the upcoming Tesla Model 3, Tesla Motors also has no plans to increase the Model S or Model X's battery above 100 kWh. Additionally, the chief executive also commented that the Tesla Semi truck and pickup will likely sport larger batteries.

Elsewhere, the price of the new Model 3 is also in speculation. If it is set to rival the Bolt, hopefully, it will also be just as affordable. Green Car Reports has revealed that in a recent poll 32% of the people believe it will cost less than $55,000.

Additionally, 31% of the people believe it will be in the $65,000 to $75,000 range. 22% of the people who joined in the poll believe it will cost between $55,000 to $65,000. And finally, the remaining 15% of the people believe it will cost more than $75,000. This poll is in no way indicative of the upcoming electric vehicle's actual price.

The Tesla Model 3 is expected to launch soon. Do you expect it to sport a battery similar to the Chevrolet Bolt or a different one? How much do you think it will cost? Thoughts and comments below.
