Chrysler reported this week that they sold 152,367 vehicles in Dec. 2012, a 10 percent increase compared to Dec. 2011 when they sold 138,019. This marks the company's highest sales month since 2007.

Chrysler, Dodge, FIAT, and Ram Truck all posted year-over-year sales gains in December compared to the same month last year the company reports. FIAT saw a 59 percent increase, which was the largest sales increase of any Chrysler company for the month overall.

December also marked the 33rd consecutive month of year-over-year sales gains for Chrysler.

"Chrysler Group ended 2012 on a strong note with December sales up 10 percent and our best December sales since 2007," said Reid Bigland, President and CEO - Dodge Brand and Head of U.S. Sales in the press release. "Looking back on 2012, we were again one of the fastest growing automakers in the country with total sales up 21 percent.

For 2012 overall, Chrysler sales surpassed 1,651,787 vehicles, which is a 21 percent increase compared to 2011 according to Chrysler. Chrysler saw seven different vehicles set annual sales records in 2012, which largely attributed to the overall yearly sales increase.

The new Dodge Dart played a big role in the sales increase as well, as the Top Safety Pick model saw a 10 percent sales increase in December. Sales were up 36 percent overall since its release in June, which could mean sales will continue to grow for the company as the vehicle develops a good reputation.

The new Ram pickup truck saw sales increase for the 32nd consecutive month, a big reason it was named Motor Trend's 2013 Truck of the Year last month. Sales increased 16 percent in December compared to last year, and it was the best sales month for the truck since December 2007 overall. Sales for the Heavy Duty Ram increased to 20 percent compared to last year as well.

"We also recorded 33-consecutive months of year-over-year sales growth and our strongest annual sales in five years," said Bigland in the press release. "Finally, seven of our vehicles recorded their best ever annual sales in 2012 demonstrating how the quality, design and fuel efficiency of our product line up continues to resonate with consumers."
