AMD Ryzen CPU Update: Leak Indicates Processors Will Feature 17 Quad-Core, 6-Core, & 8-Core Variants

The whole lineup for the upcoming AMD Ryzen CPU has been leaked online. If these so-called "leaks" are true, then we might have already seen the complete 17 models featuring Zen Core architecture.

The apparent leak, from coolaler.com, shows the whole lineup including the model names of the CPUs, featuring quad-core, 6-core, and 8-core processors. Also, all 17 CPUs have unlocked multipliers. They are said to be branded as R7, R5, and R3 series. But internally, these CPUs will be branded as AMD SR7, SR5, and SR3, respectively. The SR stands for "Summit Ridge," which is currently the branding for the whole lineup.

According to the TechPowerUp, the leak shows the upcoming 8-core AMD Ryzen CPU's performance from the Ashes of Singularity benchmark run. The Ashes of Singularity may have been chosen as the benchmark tool for upcoming AMD products. In the "leak," it shows results from the unreleased CPU paired with an NVIDIA Titan X graphics card. But the results were immediately deleted right after it was leaked, but not before the quick hands of a few enthusiasts made their own screenshot.

Forbes reported that R7 range features 8-core 16-thread CPU variants: R7 1800X, R7 Pro 1800, R7 1700X, R7 1700, and R7 Pro 1700. Of course, these are the high-end processors that will be sold at enthusiast-level prices.

The leak indicated that these will clock from 3GHz to 3.6 GHz. The R7 1800X will be a likely adversary of the Core i7-6900K, at a much cheaper price tag, whereas the R7 1700X will be formidable against the Core i7-7700K and 6800K processors. And the R7 1700 will compete with the i7-7700.

Next up is the R5 category comprising 6-core, 12-thread parts and 4-core, 8-thread parts. The former includes R5 1600X, R5 Pro 1600, R5 1500, and R5 Pro 1500, while the latter has R5 1400X, R5 Pro 1400, R5 1300, and R5 Pro 1300. Both models will be clocked from 3.2 GHz to 3.5 GHz.

Competing against the first 3 R5 AMD Ryzen CPUs are the Core i5-6700K, Core i5-7600, and Core i5-7500. And the R5 1400X will go up against i5-7400.

Finally, the R3 lineup is all composed of quad-core chips. These include R3 1200X, R3 Pro 1200, R3 1100, and R3 Pro 1100. And these will be clocked from 3.1GHz to 3.4GHz. Both the AMD Ryzen R5 and R3 would be the more price-optimized CPUs.

Meanwhile, AMD CEO Dr. Lisa Su has confirmed that the AMD Ryzen CPU will, in fact, hit store fronts by early March. The company has remained tight-lipped as regards details about their much-anticipated next-gen CPUs.

March will see the launch of the highly anticipated AMD Ryzen processors, which is only a few weeks away. It won't be long until the processors are ready for high-end gaming and worldly uses. But Ryzen has neither confirmed nor denied any of the "leaked" details for their lineup. But at least we could get to see what products will take on Intel's CPUs.
