The latest 2018 Mercedes-Benz E-Class Cabriolet has been spotted lurking around the corner with a cleaner and with a more eye-catching appearance, just days after the unveiling of the E-Class coupe. This is the first time in years that the Cabriolet, and also the Coupe, has received its own dedicated platform instead of just being based from a modified C-Class.
The mid-sized E-Class Cabriolet has been the oldest droptop in Mercedes-Benz' lineup. Now, the cabriolet is getting a refreshed look, somewhat. It comes with a stylistic tone that would set the next-generation of Mercedes-Benz models in the years to come.

Based on the W213 generation E-Class, the new E-Class Cabriolet makes for a proper E-Class, not a combination of components from an E-Class and a C-Class, as the previous models were. The new cabriolet features the same front but with rear-end styling treatments that come in sport or luxury themes.
According to MotorAuthority, both the E-Class Cabriolet and coupe will be using the modular platform used in rear-wheel-drive vehicles, known as the MRA. The report furthered that they seem to appear a bit larger than its previous models.
Its interior now has become a bit more classy with more space for its passengers. It is equipped with the latest connectivity and digital technology from Mercedes-Benz. Plus, a range of new driving aids and safety features comes with the vehicle. Most of these were revealed in the fixed-roof model that made its debut at this year's Detroit Motor Show.
The E-Class Cabriolet will receive a series of new and upgraded engines. Depending on the models, they will be mounted longitudinally and channel drive to either the rear or all four wheels. Air Body Control, the latest in Mercedes' evolution of air suspension will be also available.
All models for the E-Class Cabriolet will have nine-speed 9G-Tronic Torque converter-equipped automatic gearbox. As a standard for all four-wheel drive, the E400 4Matic will be used, which would help make the new line of E-Class Cabriolet a car for all seasons due to the greater traction in the 4-wheel drive, as reported by AutoCar.
The 2018 Mercedes-Benz E-Class Cabriolet is expected to debut at the Geneva Auto Show and will hit stores later this year. The E400 coupe will arrive in stores this summer, so its sibling the cabriolet will soon follow. Pricing, however, is around $62,525, which is slightly higher compared with the coupe.
