Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV: ECO Mode Moderates Acceleration For Fuel Efficiency

Mitsubishi has launched its first ever plug-in hybrid SUV, Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV. The SUV could be driven under electric power at around 25 kilometers, which is expected to resonate with families wanting to lessen expenses on petrol.

The Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV is powered by a 2.0-liter four cylinder engine and two electric motors, and one of them is operating independently at the rear wheels with no mechanical connection. It has one electric motor that works with the gasoline engine drive the front wheels while the second motor powers the rear wheels giving the car a perfect all-wheel drive system.

The Outlander PHEV has no gearbox, instead, it drives the motors which engine has all four wheels through a single-ratio transaxle with the front featuring a clutch to switch between the electric motor and the petrol engine. The primary function of the petrol engine with only one gear is to drive the generator to keep charging the batteries.

It is powered by each electric motor which outputs 60kW, and the 2.0-liter petrol inline four develops 87kW. The torque force is at 137Nm for the front motor, 195Nm for the rear motor and for the petrol engine is 186Nm. Adding it all up, it has an ADR tested average fuel economy of 1.9 I/100 kilometers and CO2 emission of 44g/km.

Outlander PHEV features a keyless entry and ignition. It comes with a sat-nav, dual-zone climate control, and cruise control. It also comes with a Bluetooth phone and audio and a USB audio input. It has a high-definition 4.2-inch color LCD that keeps informing the driver by displaying the battery level, which switch is attached to let it toggle between display functions.

Other features of the PHEV includes sensing wipers, dusk-sensing headlights, and 18-inch alloys. It also has an ECO Mode, which helps the air conditioner in energy-efficient mode and moderates acceleration to improve fuel efficiency.

The Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV delivers remarkable eco-efficient without compromising performance, convenience, and comfort. It brings owners fuel efficiency they never experienced before in an SUV.
