2017 Bathurst News: McLaren Confirms Driver Lineup

2017 Bathurst news revealed that the McLaren team has decided on which drivers would race to the finish. With only a month before the competition starts, team owner, Jono Webb, revealed that Alvaro Parente would retain his position and would be joined by Rob Bell, Will Davidson, and Como Ledogar.

The Cars. As revealed by 2017 Bathurst news, the drivers would race with the McLaren 650S GT3 supercars. Initially, the latest model of the vehicle was powered by a 3.8L twin turbo McLaren M838T Mid engine. Its race power reaches 500PS, can generate 500Nm of torque, has a total displacement of 3,799cc, and has 130L of fuel capacity, reported Blanc Pain GT Series.

When asked about the cars, Davison mentioned that he would be glad to test the vehicle out before the race starts. However, since he already had experience with the GT supercar, he attested that it could come easily to him by the time he would already be able to test it out. He likewise added that the McLaren GT is quite different from other contenders in the competition. However, he did admit he lacked the experience with GT vehicles which could even his abilities up with the rest.

Drivers Racing Experience. Per 2017 Bathurst news, Parente had driven for the McLaren lineup last year where he and his team won the championship. He would be racing under the #1 entry while Rob Bell would serve as the crew captain under the #59 entry. Parente would be teaming up with Ledogar under #1, reported Endurance Info.

At present, the McLaren GT team has five official pilots in Australia alone. Davison, who is not supported by the British manufacturer, had driven with TEKNO on a Holden VF Commodore wherein he was able to rank as 5th place at the championship. As revealed by 2017 Bathurst news, the final McLaren lineup this coming February would be Rob Bell, Will Davidson, Alvaro Parente, and Como Ledogar.
