Roku launched a new version of their mobile companion application for iOS and Android OS. This aims to make it easier for their users to find and watch movies and shows on the company’s streaming device and Roku-powered TVs.

According to Tech Crunch, Roku is rolling out a revamped mobile application which will make its users easier to access its most popular features like watching movies, TV shows, and also includes a remote search control. This company has offered a lot of handy companion applications that works with its streaming media devices and smart TV devices which are used by 13 million people on a monthly basis.

The previous version of the application offered its users a simple interference with vertically aligned buttons for remote, search, My Feed and Play on Roky casting option. Today, Roku is moving the navigation to the bottom of the application. This is a more traditional design than the big buttons they used before. However, they also changed the buttons. Now users can go from left to right and they can access Channels, a new section called ‘What’s On’, a ‘Photos +’ section and the application’s settings.

The new application features a refreshed design which will make it easier to switch between the individual sections of the application, Variety reported. When the user will launch a Roku channel from the application, it will automatically switch to the in-app remote control in order to easily navigate through the application’s menu. The in-app remote control has been optimized for one-handed use. But, however, the biggest change is that Roku has added a new program guide called ‘What’s On’. This section is a simplified universal program guide that features content recommendations from a variety of sources sorted by categories.

The previous application featured a section called ‘My Feed’ which is still available on Roku streaming devices. It will allow its users to track movies and shows they are interested in and get a notification when these titles appear in their favorite streaming services.
