2018 Volkswagen Tiguan: A Wheelbase SUV Volkswagen Has More Cargo Space And Safety Navigation Features

The 2018 Volkswagen Tiguan SUV was featured at the 2017 Detroit Auto Show. It will be the only Tiguan available in North America. It has given a picture of usability and versatility of the Volkswagen's trademark driving dynamics.

2018 Tiguan is a wheelbase model Volkswagen. It has either two or three row of seating. It is 10.7 inches longer than the current Tiguan model. It has been thoroughly engineered for the United States consumers to maximize space and retaining agility and performance.

It has a Modular Transverse Matrix architecture which wheelbase is 109.9-inch and 18.52-inch overall length. The Volkswagen's cargo space has increased up to 57 percent. The platform has a wider and lower stance which the exterior design also has a 26-degree approach angle for off-roading to a lower lift in height for the tailgate.

It has eight-way power driver seat, heated front seats, and a steering wheel. The sliding second-row seat splits in 40/20/40 and can slide seven inches fore and behind. The third row has a standard front drive and optional all-wheel-drive. The new Volkswagen has turbocharged 2.0 liter TSI I-4 making 184 hp and 221 lb-ft of torque. Its engine is mated to an eight-speed automatic.

Tiguan has an optional digital cockpit display which allows drivers to access the navigation data and key data visible. It offers infotainment and navigation system through Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and Mirror Link.

The car's features include adaptive cruise control which helps in the navigation for stop-and-go traffic. It has forward collision warning and automatic emergency braking. It is safe to drive because it comes with a blind spot monitor with rear traffic alert and lane departure warning.  Tiguan also helps the driver steer the car back into the lane when the vehicle starts drifting into another lane without using the turn signal.

The 2018 Volkswagen Tiguan SUV production began in December. The price of this luxurious SUV has not been revealed yet. However, CEO Hinrich Woebcken unveiled that the price is very competitively with other compact SUVs.
