The alpha prototype of the first Lucid Air EV luxury sedan production was presented at the 2017 Consumer Electronis Show held in Las Vegas, Nevada. The coming Lucid Air EV is a new electric car that will pose a challenge to well-known electric vehicles now in the market. Made by a former battery technology company, the alpha prototype Lucid Air EV shows great promise as it is more luxurious and more spacious than existing electric vehicles.

Being a former battery technology company, Lucid used a technology that makes it possible for the batteries to be repeatedly recharged using super-powered fast chargers. The fact that repeated charging does not make the batteries deteriorate will help the Lucid Air EV to achieve 300 to 400 mile range without stopping to recharge. It is out to compete with luxury sedans such as BMW, Audi and Mercedes Benz instead of Tesla, according to TC.

In terms of power, the Lucid Air EV will produce 1,000 horsepower. The front motor will make 400 horsepower while the one at the rear will make 600 horsepower. It will sport a 130 kWh Li-Ion battery pack with 400 mile range. It will go from 0 to 60 mph in 2.5 seconds. Its top speed is estimated to be at 120 miles per hour while others marked it at 200 miles per hour. Despite of this impressive power, the Lucid Air EV remains easy to handle and the ride is smooth, according to Auto Week.

While other electric vehicles now on the road are sticking to conventional designs, the makers of Lucid Air EV will go for a futuristic and luxurious electric sedan as indicated by the prototype. It might look small outside but the interior is made roomy and comfortable. It will come with hardware for autonomous driving but will have to be activated later, according to Digest Cars.

The Lucid Air EV will not just be like any ordinary electric vehicles because it has features that classify it as a luxury car. It will be released in 2019 and priced at a range that is competitive with the price of Tesla cars. Despite its futuristic and luxurious look, it still possess the aggressiveness of a fast car ready to give the best performance ever from an electric vehicle.
