New Peugot 3008 DKR Gets Upgrades and Full Battle Gear for This Year’s Dakar Rally [Video]

The New Peugot 3008 DKR, official entry of the French car manufacturer to this year's Dakar Rally. The Dakar Rally is an off road motor racing event that will test both speed and endurance of participating vehicles. The starting point will be in Paraguay and the finish line will be in Argentina. The race will start on January 2 and will end on January 14.

The French car manufacturer captured the championship last year with its Peugot 2008 DKR, the company is ready to defend its crown with its New Peugot 3008 DKR. The company's weapon for the 2017 Dakar Rally was first shown at the 2016 Paris Motor Show. It will travel across 9,000 miles of rough terrain of South America, according to Auto Express.

The Peugot 3008 DKR was designed for racing, with considerable ground clearance and massive tires that can handle the rough terrains. Changes in the damping and geometry as well as travel were applied to its suspension, making it ready to handle the varying South American terrain, according to Only Motors.

It is powered by a 3.0-liter twin turbo V6 engine that sends power to only two of the wheels, instead of all four. The absence of all wheel-drive system resulted to a lighter vehicle that can go at incredible speeds. It looks imperious in red, blue and yellow, which are the colors of its partners- Red Bull, Total, Scarco and BF Goodrich, according to Car Scoops.

Designed for speed and endurance, it is expected that the Peugot 3008 DKR will be able to reach the finish line still intact and eager for more action. This car is made better than its predecessor by making stronger its weak points and improving its strengths. Tested prior to the Dakar Rally in similar terrain by experienced drivers, this car is now ready for the race.
