Having sold over 7 million vehicles in China since its introduction by SAIC-GM in 1998, Buick announced that it will introduce a new line of vehicles under the Avenir name. The first car to carry the said name is the Buick GL8 Avenir. Last year, 76,607 GL8s were delivered nationwide. The Buick GL8 has helped make Buick the third-largest passenger vehicle brand in China, the largest market for the brand globally.

The GL8 Avenir is an extra luxurious variant of the Buick GL8 minivan, made in China by the the Shanghai-GM joint venture, according to Forbes. The upgrade from the GL8 into the GL8 Avenir includes the following: individual seats made of full-grain leather, hand-crafted wood panels, an 18-color ambient lighting system, suede ceiling and 74oz floor mats.

The new-generation GL8 Avenir is made of an impressive elegant exterior in exclusive Earl Purple that serves as the perfect expression of Buick's century-long tradition of luxury. Its 18-inch multi-spoke aluminum alloy wheels deliver an exclusive, premium sensibility. Its Buick-inspired tri-shield textures insignia and honeycomb-like wing-shaped grille highlights Buick's brand spirit.

According to Buick China, the luxurious feeling continues in the interior, which adopts Buick's 360-degree-all-around integrated design and wing-shaped elements trademark. Lively rhombic patterns with the Buick GL8 Avenir badges appear everywhere: on the center console, on the back, on the door panels, on the dashboard, on the seats and on each head rest. Combined with plush carpeting, this creates an experience that is comfortable, tasteful and visually appealing. The GL8 Avenir also comes with 18 atmospheric colored lighting options.

Buick is attracting new customers with its portfolio of award-winning models in North America and China, offering vehicles with sculpted designs, luxurious interiors and thoughtful personal technologies, along with responsive-yet-efficient performance. Next up for the Avenir are the Envision SUV and the new LaCrosse sedan. Avenir means "future" in French but Buick GL8 Avenir's Chinese name hasn't been announced yet.
